Top 5 Self-Care tips

The term self-care describes the actions that an individual might take in order to reach optimal physical and mental health. Self-care isn’t just a one time deal. It is a continuous practice that we need to make ritualistic.

With all that is going wrong in this world and in our own back yards, we hope you take a minute or ten to practice self-care. If you don’t know where to start we are here to help.




1. Protect your schedule

This is the first basic principle to self-care. You need to make time for it and stick with it. Protect your schedule because without self-care you cannot continue with much else effectively.




2. Be selfish

Yes, we know. The black female is expected to carry the world on her shoulders and be everything to everyone. We assure you that it will be uncomfortable at first to think only of yourself at times but it is necessary. It is time to cut off those people in your life who are doing nothing but bringing negativity and taking up your time. #ReclaimYourTime




3. Check in with your emotions

We mean, really check in. When was the last time you actually de-cluttered your emotions and analysed the things that are making you unhappy? Get on it girl.



4. Ask for help.

It is okay to ask for help. This can come in the form of calling your best friend at 2 o’clock in the morning. It can also come in the form of setting an appointment with a therapist. Either way, ask.

5. Exercise

We all know that a good dance session at home in PJ’s with a glass of wine counts as exercise right? So get on it and have fun.
