Spring is so beautiful. The flowers bloom at just the right moment and the leaves make the trees look healthy and full. The birds come back from hibernation while the butterflies and ladybugs fly in to sit on your window sill. Everything just looks magnificently graceful. But if you’re like me, you know that as soon as you step foot out that door, everything turns deadly. As soon as that Spring breeze comes at you with that cloud full of pollen, it’s like someone walked up and punched the air out of our lungs. Your eyes start to water and itch, your mouth becomes dry, your throat becomes sore and your face begins to swell after sneezing so much. It seems the only place you will be vacationing for Spring Break is at your home—safe indoors.
But why let your Spring Fever ruin your free time? There are ways you can go out and have fun without worrying about your allergies!
The top five Spring Medications are:
- Zyrtec
- Allegra
- Claritin
- Benedryl
- Alavert Allergy
Keep a couple of these in your purse or pocket just in case you do have to leave the house for anything. Also another helpful tip is to never touch your eyes or face. Pollen sticks to just about anything so it is super easy to accidentally scratch your eyes after opening an outside doorknob. Washing and rinsing your hair frequently will help too, that way there isn’t much pollen on your pillow as you sleep. No more waking up with crusty eyelids!

If you’re not into the medications or want to try natural remedies try:
- Nettle tea
- Peppermint tea
- Honey lemon tea
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- ButterBur
They provide great heat and herbs to open up those airways.
Spring is a pain, but don’t let it ruin your Spring Break! So get some allergy medicine and heat up some tea! It will only last a few more weeks.
