In the city of Cali, Colombia, Afro- Colombian women celebrate and honor their journeys through the expression of hair.

Every year, black women from all over Colombia get together in the city of Cali for their annual Knitting Hope hair braiding convention. It serves as a way for Black mothers and grandmothers to pass on hair styling traditions to their daughters so that they can stay in touch with their identity practice group economics and honor their African heritage.
