‘Black Panther’ Smashes Box office Records

We had no doubt that the Black Panther movie was going to smash records but take a look at these numbers!

The film’s estimated three-day gross of $192 million is the highest debut ever for a February film and the fifth highest of all time. Combined with an estimated international debut of $169 million from 69% of the international market, the estimated global debut stands at $361 million through Sunday.

The film has utterly destroyed the record for the largest Presidents Day weekend, blowing past “Deadpool’s” 2016 mark of $152 million. Overall North American movie going for the four-day period should hit $300 million — far above the $278 million mark in 2016, according to comScore.

Compared to the second weekend of Universal’s “Fifty Shades Freed” third with $18 million from 3,768 locations for the Friday through Monday period. Its Friday through Sunday total ($16 million) marks a 57% decline from its opening weekend. The film has earned $161 million worldwide in its first eight days.

The only real question is, “Have you watched it yet?”

  1. Saw it on the first day out — loved it! The women guarding the king were nothing but awesome! You get the ethos of the nation Wakanda. All that Black was so beautiful. And what would it be like to have an ethical and mature national leader who knows what good to do with his and his nation’s power? ‘Bye, 45.
