How We Can Help Girls Love Their Curls

Our staff writer Evita shares with us her favorite inspiring video today.

Here’s what she had to say

This video is inspiring to me because I have met so many women who have not felt beautiful wearing their natural hair. They’ve always felt like they had to straighten their hair to feel beautiful or be accepted by society because society posts on covers of magazines or on TV women with straight hair. I embraced my natural curls in the Fall of 2011 and I’m continuing to love and embrace my hair, especially now that I have a daughter with beautiful natural curls. Watching the video always makes me cry because, at one point I was that little girl saying how much I wish I had straight hair. Everyday I’m telling my daughter at 3 years old that her curls are beautiful, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

  1. Evita that was so awesome! Thank you for sharing this video. I don’t have a daughter, but I’m hoping by wearing my natural curls all the time that my son sees them as beautiful. I hope it makes him open to dating and marrying a girl who embraces her natural curls too!

    • Thank you so much Leslie! As you know, it’s so important and having a child has definitely instilled me to love all of myself so that my daughter can do the same. So glad you are doing this too!
